![]() | Tuettelmann, Frank Frank Tüttelmann, MD, started his scientific career at the Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Andrology (CeRA), Münster, Germany. He is a certified Clinical Andrologist of the European Academy of Andrology, a specialist in human genetics, senior physician and deputy director of research and teaching at the Institute of Human Genetics (IHG), Münster, Germany. In 2018, he was appointed full professor for reproductive genetics as part of the DFG-funded clinical research unit ‚Male Germ Cells: from Genes to Function‘. His primary research topic is reproductive genetics with a strong focus on male infertility. The majority of his publications deals with genetic causes of spermatogenic failure. He received several prizes for his research, amongst other the “Young Andrologist Award” of the International Society of Andrology. By developing clinical databases at both the CeRA (Androbase©) and IHG (Gene.Sys©) he improved patient care and enabled novel research strategies at the same time, by e.g. simplifying selection of specific phenotypes based on testicular histology. Recently, he has collected a large-scale whole-exome sequencing dataset of >800 mostly azoospermic men, which allows for unbiased genomic analyses in genetics of severe male infertility. | |
